12X08 The Grief in the Girl Discussion

I loved this episode SO much. The opening scene with B&B was so sad, but I loved it. Yes Brennan was snappy, but grief screws with you whether you want it to or not. Brennan going back to work so soon was her way of dealing with Max’s death. You get to a point where you can’t be sad anymore and you can’t surround yourself with the loss anymore. I didn’t like Sully in season 2 because he was too all over the place for Brennan, she needed stability and someone who could wait her out. I was happy to see that sully had settled down and opened a sandwich shop. I didn’t like how Angela interrogated Aubrey about Sully, she should know Brennan well enough to know that she’s with Booth until the day she dies. Brennan made Clark’s year when she gave him permission to start investigating the Vikings, it was sort of cute to see him and Hodgins so giddy about it. I didn’t think it odd for Brennan to ask Booth to leave her alone for a few days. Sometime you need to work though grief on your own so you can move on. I also didn’t think it odd for Brennan to spend time and be able to be able to talk to Sully about Max and not Booth. Sometimes you need to unload on someone who knows YOU but isn’t close to what you’re going through to offer a new perspective or to listen without being over sympathetic. I had to laugh at Aubrey and the beef jerky, the man loves his food. Booth was unhappy sure because Brennan was hurting and this was the first time that we’ve seen that he wasn’t able to fix it. He no doubt felt responsible on some level for her pain and sadness. I loved what Brennan told Angela that she didn’t want to worry about Booth or anyone else at that point. I loved the ending home scene and Max’s funeral, Brennan’s elegy was perfect for him. IMO it also shows how much she’s grown, a few yrs. ago she wouldn’t have been able to do that or allow herself to feel it. I loved how Booth was there when she needed but didn’t push her. I have to say I liked Booth and Brennan working apart for a change, usually it’s B&B working together apart from everyone else.
