Why is Bones going off the air?

I have been out of out of touch. why is Bones going off the air?

Because Fox decided that Bones was an old enough show that the ratings it was still getting didn't offset the cost of producing the show and that it was getting harder and harder to come up with interesting scripts.

But they were nice enough to give Bones a half season to come up with a coherent close to its various storylines.
